These terms govern the rental of vehicles from ESC Rental. By making a booking the customer confirms having read and accepted them.
1. Driver requirements
- Minimum age: 21 (a higher age may be required for some vehicle categories)
- Valid driving licence held for at least 1 year
- Valid identity document or passport
- An international driving permit may be required for licences issued outside the European Union
2. Booking and confirmation
A booking is confirmed once it has been checked by ESC Rental and, where applicable, the deposit has been paid. The customer receives a confirmation email with the reservation code.
3. Payment and security deposit
The rental balance is due when the vehicle is collected. A security deposit may be requested at pickup; it is returned when the vehicle is handed back without damage and with the agreed fuel level.
4. Pickup and return
The vehicle must be collected and returned at the place, date and time shown in the booking. Rental is charged in 24-hour periods: a late return may result in an extra day being charged.
5. Fuel
The vehicle is delivered with a given fuel level and must be returned with the same level. Otherwise the missing fuel plus a service charge will be billed.
6. Use of the vehicle
The vehicle may only be driven by the drivers named in the contract. It is not permitted to:
- drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- use the vehicle for racing, towing or paid transport
- take the vehicle outside the authorised territory without written consent
- smoke inside the vehicle
7. Insurance and damage
The rental includes the insurance cover shown in the booking. The customer is liable for damage not covered, for applicable excesses and for damage caused by use contrary to these terms. Any accident, theft or damage must be reported immediately to ESC Rental and, where necessary, to the authorities.
8. Fines and tolls
Fines, tolls and penalties relating to the rental period are payable by the customer, even if notified after the vehicle is returned.
9. Cancellation
Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the pickup time. After that, or in case of no-show, the deposit paid may be retained.
